PROFIBUS Compact Repeater

Article 700-972-ORB12 is a full and versatile PROFIBUS repeater due to its very compact size. It enables transfer speeds from 9.6 kbps to 12 Mbps. Transmission signals are regenerated and retransmitted by the repeater (bit reshaping and retransmission), largely eliminating faults in the line. The PROFIBUS compact repeater is an excellent alternative to conventional repeaters for numerous applications, both technically and economically. It can be used for bus extension (up to 1 km with 2 PROFIBUS compact repeaters), increasing the number of participants, and system expansion. It can also be used in MPI networks. Thanks to its compact design, no additional space is required in the control panel, as the PROFIBUS compact repeater can replace a PROFIBUS connector and simply be connected to a participant on the PROFIBUS network. Furthermore, no separate power supply is needed, as the PROFIBUS compact repeater uses the 5 V power supply provided by every PROFIBUS device for termination resistors. The PROFIBUS compact repeater provides potential separation between the two PROFIBUS segments.
